Mums in Mind groups in Bristol
These are new peer support groups for women who are feeling anxious, isolated and are struggling in baby’s first two years.
Each session includes activities for parents and children, snacks, and an opportunity to talk about feelings, common challenges and share ideas. Topics are selected in line with women’s needs but could include; feelings around becoming a parent, changing relationships, looking after parent and child well-being, as well as practical parenting issues. The groups are also an opportunity for women to form friendships and develop support networks.
The Mums in Mind groups are being developed in partnership with Children’s Centres across Bristol and are facilitated by a Home-Start paid and experienced worker and supported by volunteers. The groups run for ten weeks and are by referral or parents can also self-refer.
For more information or to discuss a referral please contact the office or email admin@homestartbsg.org.uk. Please visit the referrals page if you wish to make a referral.

Drop-in group for parents of multiples
We are very pleased to be supporting a drop-in group set up by two of our families who have twins and who were previously supported by Home-Start Bristol volunteers. The families were put in touch with each other and decided to set up a Facebook page to contact other families with twins and triplets. A Bristol children’s centre kindly offered the use of a room and very quickly so many parents were attending with their children that the group had to move to a larger venue and now meets monthly at Oldbury Court Children’s Centre.
The group is an informal place for parents and children to meet, share ideas, discuss some of the particular challenges of being the parent of multiples, enjoy activities, snacks and story time together and develop a support network.
The groups are planned and run by the parents themselves with support from children’s centre staff, a Home-Start worker and supported by our volunteers. If you would like more information please ring the office.
Please visit the referrals page if you wish to make a referral.
