Best Start for Families

Best Start is a new peer support group helping families to give their children the best start in life. The groups are for families with children under the age of three who need some additional support and who would benefit from meeting other families. Siblings up to the age of five can also come along to the group.

Each session will include fun activities for parents and children, snacks, and an opportunity to talk about common family challenges and share ideas. Topics are selected in line with families’ needs but could include;  building positive parent-child relationships, activity ideas for families to do together, healthy eating,  managing finances and parenting issues. The groups are also an opportunity for families to form friendships and develop support networks.

Best Start groups have been developed and commissioned in partnership with South Gloucestershire Council. The groups are facilitated by a Home-Start paid and experienced worker and supported by volunteers.

The groups run for 9 weeks, plus a home-visit from the group co-ordinator and are by referral or parents can self-refer.  For more information or to discuss a referral please contact  our Bristol office or email admin@homestartbsg.org.uk
