**Positions Filled**

Home-Start Bristol and South Gloucestershire supports families with at least one child under five that are going through tough times. The charity works across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, recruiting and training volunteers, who are often parents themselves. The volunteers provide support, friendship and practical help to families through home visits and group sessions. We’re there for parents when they need us most – because childhood can’t wait.

We have an exciting opportunity for a second co-ordinator for our new programme for dads in Bristol, and a new coordinator to launch Dad Matters across South Gloucestershire. The roles will support dads to have positive relationships with their infants under two years.

About the role
The Dad Matters Co-ordinator will set up, deliver and monitor a range of activities for dads in the perinatal period, i.e. from when they are expecting a baby to when the baby is two years old. This will include both individual and group support for dads. The successful candidate will play a key part in better supporting dads/stepdads across Bristol and South Gloucestershire in the early days of parenthood.
The three key aspects of the role are:
i) educating dads on the importance of attachment and bonding, and the important role the dad plays within the family;
ii) creating peer mental health support sessions;
iii) signposting dads to additional support from specialist and community services.

You will develop and manage a team of volunteers to support our dads service, facilitate and co-facilitate sessions with dads, develop links with other relevant community services, and work with colleagues from these services to raise awareness of the risks of poor mental health in the perinatal period.

You will need either to be a dad yourself, or someone who has equivalent knowledge and experience of caring for families with babies, or of working in this type of setting. You will be an exceptional communicator, be able to show experience of facilitating groups and organising effective communications, and have a positive and creative approach to tackling tasks.

The Bristol role is 30 hours a week over 4-5 days. The South Gloucestershire role is 16 hours a week over 3 days. The roles will work with a blend of home and office working to be agreed with the line manager. Evening and weekend work will make up part of these hours. The candidate must live in Bristol or be within reasonable commuting distance.
