Home-Start Bristol supports Maternal Mental Health Week (2-8 May 2022)

Home-Start Bristol supports local mums to talk about their wellbeing and reach out for help. Vital peer support is available in the area through the charity’s network of confidential, trained volunteers.

A Bristol mum supported by Home-Start said: “My volunteer has been amazing. Just knowing that she was coming made all the difference. She would help me if I felt overwhelmed, it was a major support having a ‘friend’ who understood.”

Terri Fletcher, Manager of Home-Start Bristol (HSB) said: “During Maternal Mental Health Week we are encouraging families to talk openly about their mental health and not to be afraid to ask for help. Parenting is hard. It can be wonderful but it can also be lonely and frustrating. That is why HSB is ready to stand alongside families when they need us most, with compassionate, non-judgemental support.”

HSB is continually recruiting for new volunteers and runs training courses throughout the year: https://homestartbsg.org.uk/become-a-volunteer/
